Eco-Adventure Tour, Ni Rahu Cave (Ni Rahu in Taino
means "Children of the Water" ) is the most splendid
cutural & educational adventure to enjoy and learn about caves.
Fifty-five million years ago, an earthquake much larger than
any registered today on the Richter Scale, abruptly lifted
part of the Caribbean Tectonic Plate up to the surface, complete
with all the living coral reefs that had been building upon
its volcanic rock foundation for billions of generations.
It was the third such geological episode that created the
island that the indigenous peoples called Kiskeya, Bohio,
and Haiti (in different indigenous languages), and that Christopher

This magnificent Caribbean island is now shared by the Dominican
Republic and the Republic of Haiti. The Ni Rahu Cave has the
most incredibly beautiful stalactites and stalagmites, columns
and "flow" formations that you could ever imagine, many of
them shimmering with mineral crystals, an effect much more
stunning than any ever created by a Hollywood special effects
technician. And, a hundred feet below the earth's surface,
the Ni Rahu Cave has carefully guarded a secret--two deep,
crystal clear, fresh water pools, one cold and one warm, glimmering
out of the depths like a scene in a Jules Verne novel.
Eco-Adventure Tour of the Ni Rahu Cave includes roundtrip
transportation, a brief orientation to caving rules and safety
issues, a guided eco-historical cave tour, swimming in the
subterranean pools, and a delightful Dominican "tipico" country
lunch of rice and beans, creole-style chicken, fresh locally
grown fruit and vegetables, and rich Dominican coffee, plus
other beverage of your choice. Also included in the tour is
an optional swim in the Caribbean Sea at beautiful La Caleta
Beach, which was once an important Taino fishing village.
